Discover spring in Anacapri: breakfast at Bar Columbus

Bar Columbus, Anacapri: My second post this spring describing a wonderful relaxing place where to have breakfast in Anacapri, on my way to explore what spring looks like in Anacapri. This is one for early breakfast, by 10:30 am croissants will be hard to find. But what is actually left is a vetrina full of delicious sweet pastries and muffins. Again, their muffins (le tortine in Italian) are South Italian style - meaning delicious vanilla and lemon scented dough mixed with dark aspects such as chocolate drops or flakes, plus often topped with coarse decorating sugar grains.

Bar Columbus is very practically located, next to the chair lift leading up to Monte Solaro, at the central Piazza Vittoria where all buses going up to Anacapri from the Marina Grande or Capri direction stop. Just turn to the left, go up the stairs, turn right and Bar Columbus is right in front of you.

There is an outside area where to breakfast in the sun, but also a bougainville plant climbing up the facade (which looks like this when I passed in the first half of April).

I was attracted by the rotolo alla marmellata di albicocca - round layered apricot jam-filled pastries, very juicy and crispy sweet at the same time. Of course there is a fine cappuccino served with it, the type you can see in the picture below.

And this is breakfast - the rotolo alla marmellata, served in this brown and white surrounding. A very unusual bar counter reminds one of the typical white Anacapri houses in the old town called le Boffe

And afterwards, you might get off for a walk along Via Caposcuro, lined with fields, vegetable gardens and orchards, taking you away into the fabuluous green environment that is Anacapri in spring, full of pink, white and yellow flowers.
